Report content

How to tell us about content hosted on Noddable that you believe is illegal or breaches our rules. This is our notice-and-action mechanism.

Draft — not yet reviewed by a solicitor. This document was prepared as a starting point and has not been checked by a qualified legal adviser. It should not be relied on, held out as binding, or published to customers in this state. Details shown in square brackets are placeholders that must be completed.

Anyone may use this route — you do not need an account, you do not need to be affected personally, and there is no charge.

1. How to report

Use the report form, which asks for everything in the next section and puts it straight in front of a person. Or email abuse@noddable.com if you would rather — it reaches a person too, not a queue that nobody reads. Put the nature of the complaint in the subject line.

If you are reporting child sexual abuse material or a threat to someone's life, say so in the subject line. Those are treated ahead of everything else, and we report them to the appropriate authorities. In an emergency in the UK, contact the police on 999 first; we are not an emergency service.

2. What to include

  1. The exact web address of each item you are reporting. This is the single most important part — without it we often cannot find what you mean, and a notice without it may not give us the knowledge that obliges us to act.
  2. Why you believe it is illegal or breaches our rules, explained well enough for someone who is not a lawyer to follow. Name the law or the rule if you can.
  3. Your name and email address, so we can acknowledge the report and ask questions. You may report anonymously, but we may not be able to take it as far. You do not need to give your name when reporting child sexual abuse material or certain other offences.
  4. A statement that you believe in good faith that the information in your report is accurate and complete.

For copyright specifically, follow the copyright and content notice policy, which asks for one or two extra things.

3. What happens next

  1. Acknowledgement. We confirm we have your report, normally within one working day.
  2. Assessment. A person reviews it against the law and our acceptable use policy. We do not use automated tools to decide these, and if that ever changes we will say so here.
  3. Action. If the report is well founded we remove or disable access to the specific material, and in serious cases suspend the account. We aim to decide within 5 working days, and far faster where there is a risk to a person.
  4. Outcome. We tell you what we decided and why. If we take no action, we say why, so you can take it elsewhere.
  5. The other side. The customer receives a statement of reasons and may contest it. Content may be reinstated if they are right. If that happens we will tell you.

5. Authorities and courts

Law enforcement agencies, regulators and courts should write to legal@noddable.com, which is our point of contact for official requests and orders. Please include the legal basis for the request. We check that requests are valid and proportionate before acting on them, and we tell the customer concerned unless we are prohibited from doing so.
